Abstract

Load imbalance in the electric power distribution system is one of the problems that can reduce power quality and increase power losses in the network. This study aims to analyze the condition of load imbalance and make efforts to balance the load on the secondary side of the distribution transformer based on field measurement data. The methods used include collecting current data on each phase, calculating the percentage of load imbalance, and evaluating the distribution of the load before and after balancing. The analysis results show that before balancing, there was a significant difference in current between the phases, indicating an unbalanced condition. After the load redistribution, the imbalance value decreased so that the current in each phase became more evenly distributed. This condition has an impact on increasing system efficiency and reducing power losses in the distribution network. Thus, load balancing is an effective step in improving the performance and reliability of the electric power distribution system.
