About the Journal

International Journal of Graphic Design (IJGD), to E-ISSN: 2987-9434;  P-ISSN: 2988-0343, is a journal devoted to the publication of scientific articles issued by the National Research and Innovation Center, Institute for Research and Community Service, Semarang University of Computer Science and Technology. This journal is a peer-reviewed and open Visual Communication Design Publication Journal. The fields of study in this journal include the sub-groups of Performing Arts, Arts, journalistic, Crafts, Media, and Design. The Art, Design, and Media Research Journal accepts articles in English and Indonesian. International Journal of Graphic Design (IJGD) is published twice a year: May and November.

The International Journal of Graphic Design (IJGD) invites researchers, academics, and practitioners to submit high-quality manuscripts for our upcoming May 2025 special issue on "Artificial Intelligence and Automation in Visual Communication Design."

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming the creative industries, revolutionizing design processes, automation, and artistic expression. This special issue seeks to explore how AI-driven tools, algorithms, and automation technologies influence creativity, originality, and professional practice in visual communication design. We welcome contributions that critically analyze these advancements from both theoretical and practical perspectives.

Suggested Topics for Submission

Submissions may address, but are not limited to, the following themes:

  • AI-Generated Art: The impact and challenges of AI-generated creativity for human designers.
  • Neural Networks and Creativity: How AI transforms visual design processes and artistic workflows.
  • Automation in Branding and Advertising: Balancing efficiency and uniqueness in AI-assisted branding.
  • Ethics of AI in Design: Issues of copyright, originality, and ethical implications in generative design.

While this issue emphasizes AI and automation in design, we also accept manuscripts on broader topics within the scope of IJGD, including visual communication, digital media, interactive design, and emerging trends in graphic design.

Submission Guidelines
  • Manuscripts should be original, unpublished, and adhere to the journal’s formatting guidelines (Manuscript Preparation Template).
  • All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process to ensure academic rigor and quality.
  • Submissions must be in English and should not exceed 7,000 words, including references.
