Author Guideline

Checklist before Submission:

Before submitting a manuscript to IJGD, authors are required to ensure that:

    1. The manuscript fits the Focus and Scope of the International Journal of Graphic Design (IJGD).

    2. The manuscript is prepared using the official IJGD Microsoft Word template.

    3. All issues related to publication ethics, research ethics, authorship, originality, and copyright have been appropriately considered.

    4. The manuscript is original, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration by another journal.

    5. All listed authors have read, approved, and agreed to the submitted version of the manuscript.

    6. The manuscript has been checked for plagiarism and meets ethical academic standards, with a maximum total similarity of 15% and less than 2% per source.

Manuscript Preparation:

  • The manuscript should include the following sections: TITLE, ABSTRACT, INTRODUCTION, LITERATURE REVIEW/RELATED WORK, METHOD, RESULTS AND DISCUSSION, CONCLUSION, REFERENCES. The author can also submit a paper using IMRAD format (INTRODUCTION, METHOD, RESULTS, AND DISCUSSION).
  • The writing format must follow and conform to the IJGD template (download the template for your manuscript here).
  • Tables: Tables should have clear captions, be sequentially numbered, and be referenced in the body text. For example, Table I (caption), Table 2 (caption), etc. Table columns should use single-spaced text and have no space before or after paragraphs.
  • Figures: Figures should have clear captions, be sequentially numbered, and be referenced in the body text. For example, Figure 1 (caption), Figure 2 (caption), etc. Figures should have a resolution of at least 300 dpi.
  • References: References should be numbered according to their order of appearance in the text, including in table captions and figure legends, and should be listed individually at the end of the manuscript. It is recommended to use a bibliography software package, such as Mendeley, to prevent typing errors and duplicate references. All citations included in the references must be cited throughout the body text. References should include at least 25 sources, with a minimum of 75% being relevant, up-to-date international journals/conferences published within the last five years from the date of the research conducted.

General Formatting

  • Manuscripts must be written in English.

  • Use Times New Roman, 11-point font, with 1.5 line spacing.

  • Paper length must be 12–20 pages (minimum 4,000 words, maximum 12,000 words), including references.

  • The title must be no more than 20 words.

  • Author names, affiliations, email addresses, and ORCID IDs must be clearly stated.

  • One author must be designated as the corresponding author.

Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts should include the following sections:

  1. Title

  2. Abstract (200–250 words, self-contained, no citations)

  3. Keywords (minimum 3, maximum 5)

  4. Introduction

  5. Literature Review / Related Work

  6. Methods

  7. Results

  8. Discussion

  9. Conclusion (maximum 1 paragraph)

  10. Future Research (maximum 1 paragraph)

  11. References

Authors may alternatively use the IMRAD format:

  • Introduction

  • Methods

  • Results

  • and Discussion

Abstract and Keywords

  • The abstract must clearly state the background, purpose, methods, key findings, and significance of the study.

  • Do not include citations, figures, or tables in the abstract.

  • Provide 3–5 keywords, separated by semicolons.

Tables and Figures

  • Tables and figures must be clear, original, and relevant.

  • Each table and figure must:

    • Be sequentially numbered (Table 1, Table 2; Figure 1, Figure 2, etc.)

    • Include a clear caption

    • Be referred to in the main text

  • Figures must have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.

  • Tables should use single-spaced text with no extra spacing before or after paragraphs.

Results and Discussion

  • Results must be presented clearly using descriptive and/or inferential analysis, as appropriate.

  • The discussion section should:

    • Reiterate the research objectives

    • Interpret findings in relation to prior studies

    • Explain unexpected or non-significant results

    • Discuss theoretical, practical, or professional implications

    • Address study limitations and future research opportunities

  • Do not introduce new data in the discussion section.

Conclusion

  • The conclusion should summarize the main findings and contributions of the study.

  • It should not repeat the abstract.

  • Written concisely in one paragraph, followed by a future research paragraph.

References

  • IJGD uses the APA Citation Style (6th Edition).

  • References must:

    • Include at least 25 sources

    • Have a minimum of 75% from international journals or conference proceedings

    • Be published within the last five years

  • All references cited must appear in the reference list and vice versa.

  • References should be managed using Mendeley, EndNote, or Zotero.

  • The reference list must be arranged alphabetically.

Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to IJGD undergo a double-blind peer review process. At least two independent reviewers review each manuscript. Editorial decisions are based on reviewers’ evaluations and the manuscript’s scholarly quality and relevance.

Submission System

  • All submissions must be made online via the Open Journal Systems (OJS).

  • Submissions sent by email will not be processed.

  • Authors must complete all required metadata during submission.

Publication Ethics

IJGD adheres to internationally recognized standards of publication ethics. Authors are responsible for ensuring originality, proper citation, and ethical research conduct.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Disclosure

Authors are required to disclose the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-assisted tools (such as large language models, image generation tools, or data analysis assistants) in the preparation of their manuscripts.

  • AI tools may be used only to support language editing, formatting, or preliminary idea organization.

  • AI tools must not be listed as authors.

  • Authors remain fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, integrity, and ethical compliance of the manuscript.

  • The use of AI tools must not replace critical scholarly reasoning, data analysis, or interpretation.

If AI tools were used, authors must include a disclosure statement at the end of the manuscript.

Example AI Disclosure Statement:

AI Disclosure: The authors declare that artificial intelligence tools were used solely for language editing and clarity improvement. All scientific content, analysis, and conclusions were developed entirely by the authors.

If no AI tools were used, authors must state:

AI Disclosure: The authors declare that no artificial intelligence tools were used in the preparation of this manuscript.

 

Acknowledgements

The Acknowledgements section is optional and should be placed after the Conclusion and before the References.

This section may include:

  • Funding sources or grant information

  • Institutional or organizational support

  • Contributions from individuals who do not meet the criteria for authorship

  • Technical or editorial assistance

Acknowledgements must not include statements that imply endorsement of the research findings.

Example:

Acknowledgements: The authors would like to thank [Institution/Organization] for supporting this research. The authors also acknowledge the contributions of colleagues who provided valuable feedback during the research process.

 

Conflict of Interest

All authors must disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest that could influence the research or interpretation of results.

Conflicts may include, but are not limited to:

  • Financial relationships

  • Institutional affiliations

  • Personal or professional relationships

  • Intellectual property interests

Authors must include a Conflict of Interest statement at the end of the manuscript.

Example (No Conflict):

Conflict of Interest: The authors declare that there is no conflict of interest regarding the publication of this paper.

Example (With Conflict):

Conflict of Interest: The authors declare that this research was conducted in the absence of any commercial or financial relationships that could be construed as a potential conflict of interest.
